Gaustatoppen 11.-12. 2. 2017
Sunday, 12 February 2017
On a cloudy morning after snowfall.
In Gaustablikk ski resort.
The clouds are slowly dissolving and letting the sunshine through.
Skiing on the ski slopes meanwhile.
Gaustaråen and Gaustatoppen from the other side of Skiupsfjell.
A journey to winter wonderland...
Time for a break.
A plenty of cabins under Ørnenipa.
Rjukan down in the Westfjord Valley and interesting snow sculptures.
Strolling around Løkjestaul in fresh powder.
Gaustatoppen in the evening.
Cabins...
Preparing for ski touring trip next day.
Gaustatoppen is the destination.
Catching the sun.
Julian left the group behind.
Vestfjord Valley cut in the plateau.
Toreskyrkja and Heddersfjell, both with lakes below.
Enjoying the sunny day from above.
The view is getting nicer and nicer.
Almost no snow was before the few 10 cm fell few days before. Many rocks were still sticking out.
Meteorological station just below the top.
Almost there
You made it Tomas!
Happy PiM also made it.
Time for a snack on the hut roof.
Guten Appetit Felix.
Cheers, Anne.
A photo with PiM.
And without PiM.
Panorama towards southwest on Telemark. Brattafjell is the highest and somewhere left of it must be the Skrove.
Gaustatoppen hytte.
Gaustatoppen crest with the highest elevation of 1883 m.
Endless Hardangervidda plateau is the biggest national park in Norway.
The summit has an impressive view, since there are no other mountains in the east. It has thus been used as radar and radio station during the cold war.
At this time not-skiable gully on the southern slope.
But this one was.
Not much left of yesterday's powder.
Florence in action.
Julian
and Felix.
Chilling out until it became too chilly.
And a colourful evening before departure.
