Continuing journey from Hokkaido to Honshu with the fastest Shinkansen. At Hakodate Hokuto train station.
Interior and Matej that is eating rice.
315 km/h was the highest speed that my GPS measured.
In comparison to Hokkaido, there are much more rice fields and traditional architecture on Honshu.
At Tokyo Shinkansen train station.
Everybody lines up in a queue.
Cleaning service waiting.
And we are waiting for Hikari train for Kyoto.
Here it is.
Sunset in Tokyo suburbs.
Meeting with Matej's friends Yurika and Kana in Kyoto.
Crossroads in less traditional part of Kyoto.
In a taxi ...
On a way to a secret location with a surprise.
Dressing up at kimono rental store.
»It suits you perfectly«
Women get a hairdressing as well.
Stopping traffic for us to pass.
Finding a way to the first tourist attraction.
Hello.
Refreshing ice with juice.
But only after taking a photo :)
Entering Kiyumizu Temple.
Group photo with kimonos.
Crowded Matsubara Dori.
The temple Yard.
Three tickets and four pair of sandals.
The shrine is unfortunately under reconstruction.
Jishu Jinja Shrine.
»We are introducing our gymnastics performer Matej.«
Temizuya - water pavilion for washing hands.
Crowded Matsubara Dori.
Walking around Gion area.
Taking a photo of Matej taking a photo.
Traditional Japanese architecture.
With a plenty of small shops.
Trying out soaps.
The Gion district was built already in Middle ages to accomodate visitors of nearby shrines.
Traditional clothing joined with modern communication equipment.
Afternoon storm just started.
Downpour.
Caught without umbrellas.
Here comes the saviour.
Ordering dinner via tablets.
Learning kanji symbls with a help of chopsticks.
Kyoto railway station.
Sending Postcards.
Kana, the only not in blue, found the matching blue colour in Matej's bag.
Fushimi Inari Shrine is another of many shrines in Kyoto.
The first buildings were built already in 711 but the main shrine was built in 1499.
Although Inari is a god of rice, it was worshiped by merchants.
Again packed with tourists.
This place is famous of paths with rows of toriis above them.
They lead to the top of the hill also called Inari.
A first smaller shrine on a way to the the top.
»We are so beautiful«
Each torii was donated by Japanese family or company.
Returning back after the first shrine.
Foxes statues are often found inside Inari shrines.
Writing postcards.
Ramen with buckwheat noodles for lunch.
More contemporary parts of Kyoto.
Just a small shrine on a street.
A slightly different group photo.
No comment needed :)
Visiting less crowded Tofuku-ji Temple.
Temple gardens.
Kyoto Tofuku-ji Kaisando hall.
One has to first throw a coin.
And then do the praying ritual.
No tourists, except for us.
Going to Nagoya in the evening.
In a sushi restaurant with food on conveyor belts.
Matej is not sure what to take first.
Delicious food.
