Visiting Molde before afternoon hike.
The man street.
Photographer's midday snack. Fish and chips with homemade mayonnaise and salad made from imported lettuce.
Scenic view on Romsdal mountains.
Both of the tops were this day's destination.
The trail unfortunately starts with escalators.
Trail with views on the Atlantic Coast, with a quite strong winds from the ocean.
The escalators end only before the start of the ridge. Who brought all these stones?
The viewpoint constructed from the same material as escalators.
Entering a significantly more enjoyable weather with no wind and more pleasant temperatures higher on the ridge.
The subsidence inversion layer was at about 400 m elevation and blocked the air circulation from the ocean. Some clouds started to from due to orographic lift nevertheless.
Norwegian Strandflat, on left, was proven to originate from the time before glaciations. Approaching the summit of Rørsethornet (659 m.a.s.l.).
The top.
Group photo for proof.
Towards the north.
Continuing the hike on the ridge.
That gradually flattens out.
The inversion layer weakened and moisture from the ocean is being pushed up the slopes.
This created good conditions for glory.
A crack opens up at the edge.
Part of the slope is sliding down.
Top of the higher Ræstadhornet (729 m a.s.l)
Rørsethornet was already enveiled in the fog after the photographer's and his better half's late afternoon snack.
Returning through the misty light.
Dwarf cornel (Cornus suecica) growing on the slopes.
Descending below the clouds and tiresome return on staircase.
Waking up in a cloudy morning next day by the lake that seemed to be less than one meter deep.
Towards another cave on a nearby island Dryna.
These were sea cliffs before the isostatic uplift.
Plant succession on a piece of rock.
A cavern opens along a fault line along the fossil coastline.
The entrance to the 55 m long coastal cave.
It is named after Frenchmen that fled from German prison and were hiding in the cave during the winter 1945/55.
»I owe you my life« says the article title. The locals were supplying the Frenchmen with food, which even built a simple shed inside.
The cave is only few metres wide but follows the fault line high up.
From inside.
Quite colourful cave walls.
Remnants of the shed they built.
The end. Of the cave and gallery.
Abduction attempt by tripod back at the entrance..
