Vågsøy and Fjærland 29.-30.8. 2021
Sunday, 29 August 2021
Visiting Vågsøy Island by the ocean on this rainy and gray day. Sætrasanden Beach was the first stop.
This sandy beach is full of bathers on a sunny and warm day.
Not a good day for sun- and water- bathing.
Making our way around the island. Ocean view from Vedvika.
There are several street arts of such kind on Vågsøy. This one in Refvik is entitled as "No matter the wreckage".
Another sandy beach, this time in Refvik.
A lot of wind of this side of the island.
Cold tropical paradise.
The beach in the panamorised form.
Refvikvatnet Lake, and the sandy beach visited before in the distance.
On the way to the most exposed part of the the island. Settlement called Kvalheim.
The bay that we will visit at the end.
Arriving in Kråkenes.
A small harbour for supplying the lighthouse and a few other houses. Supposedly used before the build the road over the hills.
The fastest wind gust ever measured in Norway reached 222 km/h at this meteorological station.
It used to be a lighthouse but no one needs these nowadays anymore.
Remembering the good old times when we were young.
Water-tight door.
Driving almost around the whole island to Nordoppedalen for another Vågøy's attraction.
The attraction is this mushroom-like rock called Kannesteinen.
Fortunately not the same kind of private property as in America.
A nice display of coastal abrasion that is wearing away the resistant rock at the high tide level.
As seen from the sea side.
We timed the visit carefully to catch the low tide. Couldn't get up there even with the help of the stones.
Neither another visitor managed that.
Another try with more sophisticated bouldering approach.
Which was successful.
Crossing Hundvikfjrden at Lote already on our way back to Oslo.
Rainbow in the fjord.
They are already using electric ferries. The tower on the right is the charging station.
A stop by the Breimsvatnet Lake, when the car started to behave strangely.
A short peek at Bøyabreen, which is rather quickly retreating outlet glacier of Jostedalsbreen.
The car forced us to eventually stop in Fjærland.
Floating sauna.
Fjærland is a book town known for numerous book shops. Books are served here just outside.
An here in this transformed fire house.
The church.
Interesting tombstone.
Fjærland downtown.
Crossing Hundvikfjrden at Lote already on our way back to Oslo. The town is located close to Jostedalsbreen glacier, hence they offer glacier trips
And this is how our journey ended. Got a free hotel in Sogndal and a free bus ride to Oslo at least.
